Playing career

Collazo began his senior career with Toulon, but after a solitary season there (1995-96), the prop moved to Bordeaux-Bègles, where he spent four years, leaving in 2000 for Stade Français Paris.

It was in 2000 that Collazo won his only France cap – against Romania – in between switching from Stade for his first spell with Gloucester.

After one campaign (2001-02) with the English club, he joined Toulouse and was at the club during their European Cup successes of 2003 and 2005, but only appeared in the 2004 final, which they lost 27-20 to London Wasps.

However, a move back to Gloucester in 2005 led Collazo to European glory a year later when they pipped London Irish 36-34 after extra time in a dramatic Challenge Cup final.

His final club was Racing Métro 92, whom he joined in 2008 for a season before retiring with a European record of 61 appearances and four tries.

Coaching career

Collazo cut his coaching teeth with Racing, where he trained their junior team for the 2010-11 season, before joining La Rochelle as forwards coach, helping them to promotion to the TOP 14 in 2014.

He was rewarded with his own promotion to director of rugby and held that role until leaving in 2018 after a disagreement with his backroom staff.

Toulon snapped up the 46-year-old straightaway.

The RC Toulon director of rugby will be attempting to add European Rugby Challenge Cup success as a coach to his winners’ medal as a player with Gloucester Rugby in 2006.
