After profiling some of the leading European try-scorers from Heineken Champions Cup clubs, we focused on the European Challenge Cup clubs in our quiz last week. Here we look at five players in more detail and bring you the full suite of answers. Julien Arias After announcing his talent with nine tries in eight Challenge Cup ties for Colomiers between 2001 and 2004, Arias was snapped up by Stade Français Paris and he has more than repaid their faith in him with 27 tries in only 64 European appearances. The 34-year-old wing was still running them in last season, when he chalked up three five-pointers in four Challenge Cup games for the Parisian club, so that he now lies second in the all-time list for the competition with 20 – five behind leader Tom Varndell. Ben Cohen The 2000 European Cup winner was lethal when given a sniff of the try-line, crossing the whitewash 35 times in just 70 European games, with 31 of those coming for Northampton Saints between 1997 and 2007. The ex-England wing also scored one Challenge Cup try for French side Brive in his single season with the French club in 2008/09 and three for Sale Sharks in two subsequent campaigns, before he hung up his boots with a record of 11 tries in 19 Challenge Cup games. Aurélien Rougerie The 76-cap French international, known to many fondly as 'Mr Clermont Auvergne', scored 33 tries in 90 European appearances for them between 2000 and 2017. A one-club man, Rougerie captained the French outfit to their 2007 Challenge Cup title and notched 13 tries in 20 Challenge Cup matches. Mark Cueto The former England wing was also a loyal, one-club servant, for Sale Sharks, and helped them to Challenge Cup glory in 2002 and 2005. He registered 25 tries in 66 European appearances, with 17 of them coming in 27 Challenge Cup fixtures, including one in the 2005 final victory over Pau. Matt Healy Connacht's all-time record try-scorer enjoyed the most prolific European campaign of his career in 2017/18, scoring nine tries in only six games to help the Irish province into the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup. Those five-pointers boosted the 29-year-old wing's total tally to 21 in 27 European games, including 16 in 16 Challenge Cup ties. Answers: Agen - Pepito Elhorga (14).
