First European final for Lyon

Lyon reached a first European final in their history after beating Wasps 20-18 at Matmut Stadium de Gerland in the EPCR Challenge Cup semi-finals.

Leo Berdeu scored one of the tries of the EPCR Challenge Cup 2021/22 campaign on his way to recording 15 points, with replacement Yanis Charcosset also crossing for the hosts.

Dan Robson and Jimmy Gopperth went over for Wasps, with 38-year-old Gopperth kicking an additional eight points for Lee Blackett’s men.

Villière brace sees off Saracens

RC Toulon set up an EPCR Challenge Cup final against fellow TOP 14 side Lyon as two tries from Gabin Villière helped them to a 25-16 victory over Saracens at Stade Félix Mayol.

Villière’s fantastic double and a stunning Jiuta Wainiqolo effort, in addition to 10 points from Louis Carbonel, saw the hosts emerge victorious after a bruising encounter between two three-time European champions.

Saracens crossed through Ben Earl and Owen Farrell kicked 11 points, but they were ultimately unable to match hosts’ immense physicality.
