Cockerill – who has recently signed a new contract to keep him at BT Murrayfield until 2023 – has made 10 changes to the side who beat Glasgow last week as they prepare for their European Rugby Challenge Cup quarter-final clash against Bordeaux-Begles next month, live on BT Sport and beIN SPORTS.

There are notable returns for Scottish international duo Darcy Graham and Marcus Bradbury as well as Simon Berghan and Nick Haining in the pack after featuring from the bench last weekend.

James Johnstone is also named at centre and will make his 50th appearance for the Scottish club while Hamish Watson and Viliame Mata partner Bradbury in what is a powerful back-row.

The fixture will be the first professional rugby fixture in the UK to feature a crowd since the COVID-19 pandemic at BT Murrayfield and Cockerill admitted he is looking forward to getting going.

“We’re looking after our squad and some of those key guys who are important to the way we play,” said the 49-year-old.

“The team we’ve selected is definitely exciting and we want to keep momentum going, so we’re looking forward to facing Glasgow in another important fixture for this club.”
