The 24-year-old played nine EPCR Challenge Cup games for Zebre and has been a recent regular for his country, racking up 20 caps over the past two years.

Director of rugby Declan Kidney, who guided Irish to the EPCR Challenge Cup quarter-finals and an eighth-place finish in the Gallagher Premiership this season, says Fischetti will “bolster our front-row options”.

“Danilo will be a welcome presence in our pack and will bring with him a wealth of international experience at only 24 years old,” he said.

Fischetti added: “I can’t wait to get started at London Irish. After speaking to Declan, I knew that the ambitions of the club match that of my own. I’m looking forward to contributing as much as I can to drive the team up the league table.”

Meanwhile, Saracens, who are returning to the Heineken Champions Cup after a two-year absence, have also signed a prop from Zebre in three-time Argentina international Eduardo Bello. The 26-year-old joins the three-time European champions with 20 Challenge Cup appearances to his name.

“I am really happy and excited to join this team of great players, I hope to grow as a player and do my best for the club,” Bello said.

Sarries director of rugby Mark McCall added: “He is a very strong front-rower who will add real power to our set piece, and with his experience he can become a valuable member of our squad next season."

London Irish have signed Italy prop Danilo Fischetti from Zebre Parma as they gear up for the Heineken Champions Cup return next season – their first campaign in Europe’s elite club competition since 2011/12.
