Pollard on form

Fly-half Pollard tallied 19 points as Leicester marched to an impressive 46-24 victory over Bristol Bears in the Gallagher Premiership at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.

The South African, who comes into Leicester’s Heineken Champions Cup Round of 16 clash with Edinburgh Rugby with 30 points to his name from the pool stage, scored a try and kicked four conversions and two penalties.

Julian Montoya notched a try brace for the hosts, with Ben Youngs, Anthony Watson and Charlie Clare also crossing.

Saracens see off Quins

Elsewhere in the Premiership, leaders Saracens clinched a 36-24 victory in an all-Heineken Champions Cup encounter with Harlequins at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Alex Lozowski, Nick Tompkins, Sean Maitland, Andy Christie and Maro itoje all dotted down for the impressive hosts, with Owen Farrell contributing 11 points.

Quins had led early on through Alex Dombrandt’s score, but Saracens were out of sight when Cadan Murley (2) and Joe Marchant went over.

Stewart hat-trick for Ulster

In the United Rugby Championship (URC), Tom Stewart scored a hat-trick of tries as Ulster Rugby defeated fellow Heineken Champions Cup contenders Vodacom Bulls 32-23 at the Kingspan Stadium.

Hooker Stewart crossed once in the first half and twice in the second half as Ulster, for whom the returning Robert Baloucoune opened the scoring, turned around an eight-point deficit at the break.

Tries from Kurt-Lee Arendse and Zak Burger helped Vodacom Bulls into a 20-12 half-time lead, but a Chris Smith penalty was all they could muster after the break, taking the fly-half's match tally to 13 points.

Five-try Ospreys cruise to victory

Ospreys were on song ahead of their Heineken Champions Cup Round of 16 trip to Saracens as they beat Dragons RFC 37-18 in the URC.

Nicky Smith, Dan Lydiate, Morgan Morris, Iestyn Hopkins and Keiran Williams went over to secure a bonus-point win for the hosts.

A red card for Dragons early in the second half helped Ospreys’ cause, with Jack Walsh adding eight points from the tee.

Garbisi heroics for Montpellier

In the TOP 14, Paolo Garbisi struck a last-gasp penalty to snatch a dramatic 23-22 win for Montpellier Hérault Rugby at USAP.

The fly-half amassed 13 points over the course of the game, converting tries from Léo Coly and Cobus Reinach and bookending Montpellier’s scoring with penalties.
