Munster came into the Pool B clash at Thomond Park with qualification for the Round of 16 already assured, but they had come under fire for their performance in a 16-13 victory at Castres Olympique in Round 3.

Speaking after the Wasps game, O'Donoghue told BT Sport: “I thought it was an incredible performance. We really had a few things to prove and build on from last week, and I think we certainly did it this week.

“It’s great to come through the pool stage with a bonus point [win], so we’re delighted we’re moving on to the next stage.

“People can say what they want. They’re not in our inner circle. They don’t know what we go through in the [team] meetings and stuff like that. We go out here to try and perform to the best of our ability, and I think we showed that today.”

The Wasps game also saw O'Donoghue reach a personal milestone, as he became the youngest player (27) to reach 150 caps for Munster.

“It’s incredible,” he commented. “[It was] a special day for myself and my family in the crowd, so I’ll cherish this one for time to come."
