The 30-year-old is wary of the threat Leicester pose and reiterated that his side cannot afford another slow start like against Northampton Saints in the quarter-finals, when they fought back from 7-0 down to win 35-27.

“It's obvious, but there’s no second chances when you get to this stage,” he said. “You can see what could be at the end of it. We’ll really have to put everything on the line this week.

“We’ve just got to go out there and have no regrets at the end of it. It’s just making sure we can bring a lot of energy, a lot of positivity, try and build up the boys around us.

“It sounds obvious enough, but we can't let a team like Leicester get the upper hand early on. You can't have those lapses in concentration like we had in the first half against Northampton.

“As long as we can stick to the task and everyone gives 110 per cent, we can come away with something this weekend.”

Although the influential Marcell Coetzee will be departing Ulster prior to the semi-final, Murphy believes the Irish province’s strength in depth in the back row can fill the void the South African will leave.

“Nick Timoney’s performance was outstanding [against Connacht in the PRO14],” Murphy pointed out. “He’s been an incredible asset to us this season.

“There’s a lot of competition there. To be honest, I think he’d (Coetzee) make any team in the world stronger. We can’t sit around and think ‘wouldn't it be great to have him’, because we don’t. We’ve got a lot of quality and a lot of depth in that department.”

Murphy went on to reveal how important winning the Challenge Cup would be for him, citing Ulster’s recent barren run in terms of silverware as added motivation.

“We’ve come close in the past couple of years,” he observed. “This would be really, really big for me.

“It would certainly be one of my biggest accomplishments if we can get there. There’s a lot of rugby to be played, but it would certainly be great.

“It certainly adds to it that Ulster haven't won anything for the past 15 years.”
