The game at Matmut Stadium de Gerland, which kicks off at 20:00 UK and Irish time, will be Lyon’s first appearance in the knockout stage of the tournament.

The tie, which is being televised live by beIN SPORTS and BT Sport, will also be the first time that Lyon and Glasgow have met in the Challenge Cup.

That will also be the case for Friday night’s quarter-final at Kingsholm between Gallagher Premiership rivals Gloucester Rugby and Saracens (20:00), which is being broadcast live by BT Sport and beIN SPORTS as well.

Gloucester are one of two previous tournament winners among the quarter-finalists, having lifted the trophy in 2006 and 2015. Wasps, the 2003 champions, are the others.

They travel to the DAM Health Stadium on Saturday (12:30) to take on Edinburgh Rugby in front of the BT Sport and beIN SPORT cameras, seeking to settle some old scores.

On the two previous occasions that Edinburgh came up against Wasps in the EPCR Challenge Cup, in the 2019/20 season, the Scottish side won both pool stage matches.

London Irish will be seeking similar revenge when they visit RC Toulon at Stade Félix Mayol on Sunday at 12:30 UK and Irish time in a tie broadcast live by beIN SPORTS, BT Sport and France 4, Toulon having also won both their pool meetings in 2019/20.

However, with the final set for Marseille on May 27, Toulon will have extra motivation to make the 70-kilometre journey once again, having lost a dramatic 2010 decider to Cardiff Rugby at the Stade Vélodrome in front of a record attendance for an Challenge Cup final of 48,990.

Toulon and Saracens are seeking to join the elite group of four clubs – Bath Rugby, Leinster Rugby, Northampton Saints and Wasps – who won have both the Heineken Champions Cup and the EPCR Challenge Cup.

When Lyon, the No.1-ranked club from the pool stage of this season’s EPCR Challenge Cup, line up alongside Glasgow Warriors in Saturday’s quarter-final, it will be an historic moment for the TOP 14 club.
