He was the teenager that replaced England legend Rory Underwood, and went on to become the hero in one of Leicester’s greatest ever victories.

Lloyd scored a brace of tries in Leicester’s 2001 Heineken Cup final win over Stade Francais Paris – which will be shown on Friday’s Heineken Champions Cup Rewind – but missed out on the following season’s success despite featuring in the semi-final win over Scarlets due to injury.

Speaking exclusively on the Champions Rugby Show, Lloyd discussed the match-winning try against Stade, saying: “We were tired, the clock was ticking. I’ve known Austin [Healey] for over 10 years so I know him better than most so when he got into the two on one with the full-back in injury time in the Heineken Cup final, I thought he was going to dummy it.

“I’m thinking he’s not going to pass but he’s broken through and put out an unbelievable pass which is right in front of me. If it was anywhere else, I might have got tackled but I managed to catch it and the rest was easy really.”
