Hickie relives the heartbreak of THAT semi-final defeat to Munster in 2006 – but gives his take on playing in the match that helped launch his side in Europe. Hickie also explains why his sister’s wedding suffered at the hands of Leinster’s first European Cup triumph!

In a European career spanning over a decade, Hickie racked up 19 tries in 54 appearances and notched a solitary drop goal in the 2000-2001 season to take his points tally to 98.

Speaking exclusively to the Champions Rugby Show, Hickie said: "It was the year of my sister's wedding and it was the first year that as a family we didn't have to work round a season.

"It was the day that Leinster won their first Heineken Cup so in true form for our family, the wedding was disrupted while everyone watched the game!

"I remember watching the game in this hotel and I felt such a sense of relief that Leinster had actually won that match.

"People expected me to maybe feel pangs of jealousy or regret about not being involved but my overriding sense when the trophy was lifted was relief."
