Leinster broke Munster Rugby’s record of 14 consecutive Guinness PRO14 wins by routing Glasgow Warriors 55-19 at the RDS Arena on Friday night, with young lock Ryan Baird and experienced wing Dave Kearney notching try trebles in a nine-try spree.

Less than 24 hours later, a Saracens side missing most of their England contingent triumphed 27-21 at fellow Heineken Champions Cup quarter-finalists Northampton Saints in the Gallagher Premiership with a four-try display.

Leinster and defending champions Saracens meet for the third successive season in the knockout phase on April 4 at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, live on BT Sport and beIN SPORTS.

In the TOP 14 there were also strong performances on Saturday from Heineken Champions Cup quarter-final opponents ASM Clermont Auvergne and Racing 92, who meet at Stade Marcel-Michelin on April 4 live on beIN SPORTS, FR2 and BT Sport.

Clermont were led to a 32-15 win at Agen by No.8 Peceli Yato, who scored two of their five tries, and Racing ran riot at home to La Rochelle, whitewashing their visitors 49-0 and chalking up seven tries in the process.

There was not such good news, though, for the two other quarter-finalists in action at the weekend. Toulouse, who entertain Ulster Rugby on April 5, lost 20-10 at Bayonne and Exeter Chiefs, who host Northampton on April 4, went down 34-30 at Harlequins despite 25 points from fly-half Joe Simmonds.

Leinster Rugby and Saracens are winding up to a potentially momentous Heineken Champions Cup quarter-final next month, with both displaying frightening strength in depth in their domestic competitions at the weekend.
