The French side chasing a fifth European title eased into the final after a comfortable 21-9 win over Bordeaux-Begles, having already defeated European giants in Munster Rugby and ASM Clermont Auvergne earlier in the knockout stages.

Kolbe is yet to score a try in the knockout stages, but did bag a brace in Toulouse’s sole pool stage match against Ulster Rugby and won Heineken Man of the Match in the process.

But despite playing and winning World Cup finals, the 27-year-old suggested that he is more nervous for Saturday’s showdown with La Rochelle at Twickenham Stadium.

“I was fortunate enough to play in a few finals,” Kolbe said. “And, funnily enough, I actually spoke to my wife last night and for some reason, the final coming up this weekend just feels much more nerve-wracking than the final I played in the World Cup.

“I’m not too sure what the reason is for that. I know it’s two great teams in France coming up against each other and I think the nerves, the butterflies, are really starting to show. But I think that’s a good sign as well.

"I just need to make sure that I prepare well throughout the week, before we leave for England and then I can calm down the nerves through the preparation we put in.

“I think it’s probably [partly due to] the long wait, Toulouse not getting the fifth title for ten years.

“Obviously there’s a bit of pressure on us as players to try and create history by getting that fifth star onto the jersey. But I’d definitely say that’s going to be our main focus. I think we just need to focus on the processes in the game.”

Kolbe also praised his teammate and EPCR European Player of the Year nominee Jerome Kaino, who has helped turn Toulouse back into serious European contenders since joining the club in 2018.

“Since Jerome [Kaino] came into Toulouse I couldn’t believe it to be honest,” Kolbe added. “I didn’t think I would be able to play with a legend.

“He’s a leader on and off the field and knows how to keep a team together. He brings a bit of calmness in the big matches and just leads by example.

“He’s a phenomenal player and more so a great man – he's someone I've always looked up to and is so physcial.

“His all-round game brings so much to Toulouse and the whole stadium.”

Toulouse wing Cheslin Kolbe has said that his side must prepare well for Saturday’s Heineken Champions Cup final against La Rochelle that the Springboks star has described as “nerve-wracking”.
