The South African started at full-back and played the full 80 minutes in the showpiece game in Dublin, winning the Player of the Match award as Toulon clinched the trophy for the first time with a commanding 43-19 victory over Glasgow Warriors.

Kolbe joined Toulon in 2021 after winning the Heineken Champions Cup with Stade Toulousain, and has now made 27 appearances in EPCR competitions, scoring nine tries.

"I would like to thank the club, my team-mates and all the supporters for the opportunity I have been given to play in Toulon during these two seasons, which I have enjoyed very much,” he said.

“I would have liked to stay in Toulon, but the financial constraints of the clubs and the injuries made things difficult."

A statement from Toulon added: "Rugby Club Toulonnais and Cheslin Kolbe have decided by mutual agreement to release each other from their commitments at the end of the 2022-2023 season.

“This allows Cheslin Kolbe to commit to a new project from the 2023-2024 season. Cheslin Kolbe is expected to announce his future destination soon.

“The Rugby Club Toulonnais would like to thank Cheslin for his involvement in the Rouge et Noir since his arrival during the 2021-2022 season.”

EPCR Challenge Cup winners RC Toulon have announced that Cheslin Kolbe will leave the club this summer.
