Borthwick, who took over the national side last December, has named a side featuring large contingents from Leicester Tigers, Saracens and Harlequins, three clubs who have reached the Heineken Champions Cup Round of 16.

Leicester, whom Borthwick led to the Heineken Champions Cup quarter-finals last season and to their first two pool stage wins this season, have three representatives in the XV in lock Ollie Chessum, scrum-half Jack van Poortvliet and full-back Freddie Steward.

That trio will be taking on a six-strong Edinburgh Rugby contingent among the Scotland ranks, who they are up against in the Heineken Champions Cup Round of 16 on March 31.

Four Saracens players make the starting team at Twickenham as captain Owen Farrell lines up at inside centre and is joined by hooker Jamie George, lock Maro Itoje and wing Max Malins.

Harlequins’ No.8 Alex Dombrandt and fly-half Marcus Smith also start, while their clubmate Jack Walker could make his England debut from the bench.

Prop Mako Vunipola, lock Nick Isiekwe and flanker Ben Earl are a Saracens trio on the bench alongside Leicester prop Dan Cole, scrum-half Ben Youngs and utility back Anthony Watson.
