Four-time Heineken Champions Cup winners Leinster put in a dogged display to see off fellow Irish province Munster Rugby 13-3 at the Aviva Stadium on Friday. Eight points from the boot of fly-half Johnny Sexton as well as a try from hooker Ronan Kelleher was enough to put them into the domestic final for the third straight season.

The more dramatic match took place on Saturday at BT Murrayfield as Ulster came back from 12 points down on two occasions to defeat Edinburgh Rugby on home soil, 22-19.

Tries from Stuart McInally, Darcy Graham and Chris Dean had given the Challenge Cup quarter-finalists a 19-7 lead before Rob Herring and John Andrew dotted down to tie the scores with five minutes to play.

But the match would have a dramatic final twist as Jacob Stockdale won a penalty with seconds to play and replacement fly-half Ian Madigan stepped up to kick Ulster into the PRO14 final next weekend.

Following next weekend’s final, thoughts will refocus onto the Irish province’s European quarter-finals, with Leinster taking on Saracens in a repeat of last season’s final in Dublin on September 19.

The following day, Ulster will travel to France to face Toulouse at Le Stadium, live on Channel 4, Virgin Media, FR2, beIN SPORTS and BT Sport.

Elsewhere, ASM Clermont Auvergne fly-half Camille Lopez scored 21 points as his side defeated Toulouse 33-30 on Sunday in a clash of Heineken Champions Cup quarter-finalists as the TOP14 made a long-awaited return.

Racing 92 picked up an away success at Lyon, Exeter Chiefs maintained their excellent form with a victory on the road at Northampton Saints but Saracens were beaten at home by Wasps.

Leinster Rugby and Ulster Rugby will meet in the Guinness PRO14 final after a pair of dramatic domestic semi-finals this weekend.
