Part two of our players to watch in next season’s Heineken Champions Cup focuses on the wings and there are some dazzling runners among this five. Pool 1: Taqele Naiyaravoro (Northampton Saints) The bulldozing Australian international made quite a statement in his debut season in English rugby, scoring 11 tries including a brace against the Dragons in the Challenge Cup. The Fijian-born, 20st 10lb wing possesses extraordinary speed for his size, consistently leaving defenders in his wake. The 27-year-old Saint previously played in the Champions Cup for Glasgow Warriors in 2015/16, when he recorded a memorable hat-trick against Scarlets. Pool 2: Chris Ashton (Sale Sharks) The European Cup’s top try-scorer returns to the competition he once dominated and will be looking to extend his total in the competition beyond 39 with Sale Sharks in Pool 2. The 32-year-old ex-England flyer still retains his nose for the try-line, having totalled eight tries in the Challenge Cup last season to boost his European tally to 54 in 74 games. Pool 3: Jacob Stockdale (Ulster Rugby) No player managed to score more tries in the competition than Ulsterman Stockdale last season, after the wing delivered his most impressive season in Europe to date with six in seven appearances and helped his province reach the quarter-finals. Still only 23 years old, the Irish international will keep Ulster supporters on the edge of their seats inside the Kingspan Stadium next season with his superb finishing. https://twitter.com/Cheslin_Kolbe11/status/1160499940277268480 Pool 4: Liam Williams (Saracens) The former trainee scaffolder certainly displayed his outstanding talents for Saracens last season, helping the London club clinch their third European Cup title with their 20-10 victory over Leinster in last season’s showpiece final at St James’ Park. The Wales star can play across the back three, but he is especially dangerous wearing the No. 14 jersey, with the 60-cap international registering a brace of tries last season against Glasgow Warriors. Pool 5: Cheslin Kolbe (Toulouse) The skill, guile and panache that Kolbe possesses are nothing short of mesmerising. Cousin to Olympic 400m champion and world record-holder Wayde van Niekerk, Kolbe has shown similar blistering pace to leave defensive lines across Europe flat-footed. The Springbok took full advantage of the attractive rugby Toulouse played last season, which included a man-of-the-match performance against Wasps, when he scored a jaw-dropping try.
