A thrilling 39-29 home success over Cell C Sharks in Round 4 sealed another tie against South African opposition, as it lifted Quins up to sixth in Pool A.

“A couple of the boys were thinking the Stormers away might be quite a nice one, but we’ll go anywhere,” said the England veteran.

“It’s an amazing competition and we’re delighted that we’re still going to be in the hat for the next one. It will be an away trip, somewhere interesting, somewhere new. We’ll go out there, have a crack and see what happens.”

Saturday proved a memorable day all round for the 36-year-old, who celebrated his 350th appearance for the club with Quins’ opening try as well as a win.

“It was special to get the win,” he said. “I have missed that winning feeling these past few weeks. To get a win with the boys and be able to run out with the kids and get that reception at the end was pretty special. They are things I will remember forever.

“It was nice to get over the line, but I thought some of our play, in the first half especially, was proper Harlequins. We have been searching for that for a few weeks, so it was nice to put it on the park and beat a very good team.”
