The 26-year-old lock, who played in eight of the Chiefs’ nine ties, will make his international debut in the Six Nations Championship decider against Italy in Rome on Saturday.

He is one of two Chiefs in the England starting XV, the other being centre Henry Slade, who appeared in seven of Exeter’s matches in their European title march.

Bristol Bears, the European Rugby Challenge Cup winners who return to the Heineken Champions Cup this season, have prop Kyle Sinckler in the England XV and back-row forward Ben Earl on the substitutes’ bench.

Wales also include a new European champion in their side to take on Scotland at Parc y Scarlets on Saturday in Exeter prop Tomas Francis, who played three times in the Chiefs’ magnificent run.

The dominant team in the Welsh XV, though, are Scarlets, who return to the Heineken Champions Cup this season. They boast five representatives in full-back Leigh Halfpenny, wing Liam Williams, centre Jonathan Davies, scrum-half Gareth Davies and hooker Ryan Elias.

Exeter are also represented in Scotland's starting XV on Saturday, with full-back Stuart Hogg captaining his country and Jonny Gray coming in at the lock position. Racing 92 fly-half Finn Russell will also start and win his 50th cap.
