The Irish province finished fourth in Pool A after following up their 13-try, 89-7 drubbing of Montpellier Hérault Rugby at the RDS Arena by romping to a 64-7 victory at Bath via 10 more tries, thus guaranteeing themselves a home quarter-final should they defeat Connacht Rugby in the last 16.

Leinster needed to be ruthless after they had to concede a 28-0 defeat to Montpellier Hérault Rugby in Round 2 due to Covid-19 reasons.

Cullen told Channel 4: “We are delighted with the last couple of weeks to get a couple of decent performances in. A lot was driven by the situation we found ourselves in.

“We knew we were chasing things in the pool and it matters to try and get as high a seeding as possible. That's the bit that we have tried to focus on, tried to control.

“Credit to the players, they have been exceptional in how they have applied themselves.”

Although Leinster ran in 10 tries at Bath, Cullen also praised his side’s defence.

“I was pleased with the way the players stuck at it right to the very end,” he said.

Leinster fly-half Jonny Sexton and four-try hero Jimmy O’Brien also expressed their pleasure at Saturday’s outcome and performance.

Sexton told BT Sport: “We’re delighted to get five points. It means we’ve done everything we could in this group. We’ve played three games and we’ve won all three.”

O’Brien added on Channel 4: “We were delighted with the performance. We knew what we needed to do over the last two weekends and are pretty happy with how it went.

“We weren’t at our standards in the first half; there were a lot of balls to the ground. We said we’ll come out, play to our standards and be ruthless.”

Sexton also praised Leinster’s travelling support, which made the match feel like a home game.

He said: “It’s been brilliant today to have people back. We've not had them in Ireland for the last few weeks and then only 5,000.

“It’s great that some of the restrictions are lifted and we’ll get the crowds back for some of the future games.”
