2016 Challenge Cup winner Nic White has a special reason for wanting further European success this season, as it will be the Exeter Chiefs scrum-half's final campaign at Sandy Park. The 29-year-old Australian, whose club have been drawn in Heineken Champions Cup Pool 2 alongside Glasgow Warriors, La Rochelle and Sale Sharks, has announced that he will be heading back to his former side, Brumbies, in Super Rugby, in 2020. He told the Exeter website from Japan, where he is with the Wallabies’ Rugby World Cup squad: “Making the decision to leave has been one of the hardest I've had to do in my life, but I will do everything in my power to ensure that my final year with the Chiefs is a successful one.” White moved to Europe in 2015, joining French club Montpellier, where he lifted the Challenge Cup after a 26-19 victory over Harlequins in the final in Lyon. https://twitter.com/ExeterChiefs/status/1181854162058915840 After his first taste of Champions Cup action the following season with the TOP 14 team, he switched to Exeter, where he has proved to be a key member of their side. Chiefs director of rugby Rob Baxter said: “I can't speak highly enough of Nic as a player and I know he will be fully committed to our cause this season.” Although the Devon-based club have yet to reach the knockout stages of the Champions Cup, they did finish top of the Premiership table in both 2018 and 2019, before losing to Saracens in both Twickenham finals. In his 21 European rugby appearances to date White has scored four tries - one in each season from 2015/16 up to and including last term.
