The game proved to be an entertaining spectacle, producing nine tries as hosts Wasps clinched a 39-29 victory at the Ricoh Arena.

Thomas Young crossed for Wasps inside ten minutes, before Bath responded through a Miles Reid try on the half hour mark.

Wasps would go into the break with a ten-point lead however, as Jacob Umaga slotted a penalty before converting a try from Josh Bassett late in the half.

A penalty from Bath’s Orlando Bailey five minutes into the second half reduced the deficit, but Michael Le Bourgeois went over for Wasps two minutes later, with Umaga converting.

A flurry of points-scoring would then ensue, with Josh McNally scoring for Bath and Bailey converting, before Umaga nudged another penalty to keep the visitors at bay.

Bath would score twice without reply in the next 15 minutes though to take the lead for the first time, with Beno Obano and Ben Spencer both going over and Bailey adding the extras for both tries.

The game would be flipped on its head with seven minutes to play however, as Bath were reduced to 14 men as Obano was shown a red card.

Wasps maximised their numerical advantage in the closing moments, with Young crossing for his second try and Paolo Odogwu dotting down to seal their victory.

Bath will be hoping for an improved performance when they return to the pitch on May 1, as they host TOP 14 side Montpellier in the Challenge Cup semi-finals.
