Bordeaux-Begles 32 Edinburgh Rugby 17 – 2020

The boot of Matthieu Jalibert was the difference as Bordeaux-Begles registered a comfortable victory at Stade Chaban-Delmas to secure their place at the top of Pool 3.

The fly-half converted three tries and kicked two penalties to help the French club to their first ever five-game unbeaten streak in European competition.

The tries came courtesy of Semi Radradra and Santiago Cordero in the first half and Yann Lesgourges in the second.

Despite a flurry of Edinburgh attacks shortly after the break, culminating in a try for Duhan van der Merwe converted by Jaco van der Walt, they could not claw back enough ground.

Edinburgh Rugby 16 Bordeaux-Begles 16 – 2019

A late penalty from Matthieu Jalibert snatched a dramatic draw for the French side in their top-of-the table clash at BT Murrayfield in Pool 3.

The fly-half struck with two minutes on the clock to crown a fine second-half fightback from Bordeaux-Begles, after they had trailed 13-6 at the interval.

Fly-half Jaco van der Walt had nudged the Scottish side 6-0 ahead with penalties in the 15th and 27th minutes, before full-back Blair Kinghorn sprinted clear after a turnover and excellent hands from centres Matt Scott and Mark Bennett in the 34th minute.

However, centre Semi Radrada launched the Bordeaux-Begles comeback in the 58th minute, when he slipped through a couple of tackles en route to the line, before Jalibert converted that late penalty to deny Edinburgh victory at the death.

Edinburgh Rugby 38 Bordeaux-Begles 20 – 2015

Sam Hidalgo-Clyne claimed a Challenge Cup record 28 points for Edinburgh to lead the Scottish team into their third European quarter-final.

The home side were always in control at BT Murrayfield, where Hidalgo-Clyne scored two tries in addition to kicking three conversions and four penalties. Matt Scott and WP Nel also got over the whitewash for Edinburgh to ease the Scottish outfit into the last eight.

Baptiste Serin and replacement Pierre Bernard scored Bordeaux’s tries, with the latter converting both, while Lionel Beauxis kicked two penalties for the French club.

Bordeaux-Begles 13 Edinburgh Rugby 15 – 2014

A late penalty try saw Edinburgh snatch a dramatic victory in Bordeaux in what was only their third win in Europe on French soil in 20 games.

Referee Neil Hennessy awarded Edinburgh the try as the Scottish side’s scrum edged forward, with replacement Tom Heathcote holding his nerve to add the winning conversion in front of the posts.

Dougie Fife had earlier crossed for Edinburgh, while Bordeaux looked to have the game won after Baptiste Serin scored a try and Lionel Beauxis added a conversion and two penalties.
