The Welsh region are one of two sides in the competition to take a maximum 10 points from the opening two rounds but had to rely on a late George North try to earn victory over the Gallagher Premiership side.

Booth said: “I know obviously we've spoken before around being resilient and consistent and those things are important, and we certainly didn't have things our own way for sure.

“So, it's a good sign in a way. I'd like it to be more straightforward but that shows we've got plenty of growing to do which is good.

“But to show character and overcome the challenges that were given to us by a Premiership team which are always tough - and they're very consistent - it was that was pleasing. But yeah, I'd like it a little bit more straightforward!”

Fly-half Stephen Myler kicked 16 points in the victory that moved Ospreys to second in the preliminary stage table, and he received particular praise from Booth.

Booth added: “Steve Myler has been absolutely instrumental in in the resurgence of the Ospreys for sure. There were a few eyebrows probably raised when I dragged another Englishman across the bridge.

“I've known Steve Myler for a long time, I know what he brings in a team that we're trying to develop a lot of young players to having a steady head. [He is} a very consistent performer and a leader.

“I thought he was excellent, staying calm under pressure, never looked flustered and led the team by example so he was great.”

With just two games remaining in the preliminary stage against opposition they have already faced, Booth knows how vital it was to get points on the board early in the competition.

“I think the big thing for us is we know with the short format that you need to win and obviously, especially with games getting cancelled and forfeits there's even more things to negotiate that are out of your control.

“So, to get the game on and get playing the first thing and you know credit to us, to our medical staff and to manage what is a very difficult situation to get the game on.

“And then obviously to take control of what you can and to be sitting two wins from two with bonus points sets you up nicely.

“So yeah, I think it's really important, and if you had to throw forward into it you know we've won three in a row and the boys are starting to believe in what we're doing so nothing reinforces where we're trying to go but by winning and performing well and we've done that.”
