Bath overcame London Irish (26-13) to reach the last four of the Challenge Cup while Leicester beat Newcastle Falcons (39-15), but it was a return to domestic action for the two sides this weekend.

Fly-half George Ford put Leicester in control early on with two penalties, but Muir’s first try of the afternoon, converted by Spencer, saw Bath take the lead.

Ford nudged another penalty shortly before halftime, which sent the visitors into the break holding a two-point advantage.

Leicester looked on course for their ninth Gallagher Premiership win of the season when centre Matias Moroni crossed, with another Ford penalty extending their lead further with 58 minutes played.

But Miles Reid went over for Bath with just under a quarter of an hour to go, with Spencer’s conversion moving the hosts to within three points.

Ford’s fifth penalty on 73 minutes looked to have sealed Leicester's victory however, but Muir dived over in the corner in the closing seconds to place the fate of the game on the shoulder of Spencer.

The scrum-half held his nerve to nail the conversion from out wide, handing Bath their eighth league win of the season and denying Leicester their first Gallagher Premiership victory at the Recreation Ground for 10 years.

There is another round of domestic fixtures next weekend, before Leicester take on Ulster Rugby in the Challenge Cup semi-finals on April 30, and Bath meet Montpellier a day later.
