They stormed to a 40-12 victory at London Irish on Monday, with hooker Jamie George and prop Richard Barrington recording doubles in a six-try display, to follow 38-24 and 36-20 home victories over Harlequins and Gloucester Rugby respectively.

“We always knew this period was getting ourselves into the best position for the big game for us, which is Leinster in a few weeks,” centre Barritt, who also scored a try, told the club website.

“We know there is still lots to work on and there were pleasing bits today. We are yet to marry up a full performance, but the telling signs are the squad is coming together nicely.”

Sarries now have three more league encounters of increasing difficulty – at home to fourth-placed Wasps, at second-placed Sale and at home to leaders Exeter Chiefs– before taking on Leinster at the Aviva Stadium.

Director of rugby Mark McCall agreed with Barritt as he attempts to give his first XV enough minutes on the pitch before taking on Leinster in the rematch of last year’s Heineken Champions Cup final.

“[The lineout drives were] definitely something that hadn’t gone so well in the first two games in particular, but we were much better there today,” he said after the Irish game.

“We’re not quite where we need to be [for the Leinster match], but individuals are playing well. We’re building towards that, of course, and playing a game like today that has less meaning it’s always going to feel a little bit different.”

Saracens captain Brad Barritt has admitted that the European champions still have “lots to work on” prior to their Heineken Champions Cup quarter-final with Leinster Rugby in Dublin on September 19 – despite notching three Gallagher Premiership wins in a row.
