2013-14 – 3rd in Pool 1

In their maiden Challenge Cup campaign, Oyonnax were drawn against fellow French side Biarritz Olympique, as well as English sides Sale Sharks and Worcester Warriors.

It was a difficult campaign for the debutants as they suffered defeats to all three teams away during the six-match campaign. They did, however, draw with Worcester 9-9 and defeat both Sale and Biarritz – all at home.

Unfortunately, they were unable to advance from the Pool and exited the competition at the earliest stage.

2014-15 – 2nd in Pool 5

A year later, Oyonnax returned to Challenge Cup action in Pool 5 alongside Gloucester Rugby, Zebre Parma and CA Brive. The French side were beaten by Gloucester in both fixtures – losing 25-15 and 33-3.

They did handle their business against both Zebre and Brive. They beat the Italian side 33-24 in the opening round before completing the double with a 20-3 win in round six. In their two games against Brive they won 30-22 and 22-17.

A lack of bonus points – zero in their six matches – resulted in them missing out on a last eight berth.

2017-18 – 4th in Pool 5

Their most recent EPCR appearance resulted in just one win during the 2017-18 pool stage in which they were drawn against Connacht Rugby, Worcester and Brive.

The lone victory came over their English opposition as they defeated Worcester 27-20 at the Stade Charles-Mathon – scrum-half Julien Audy notching 17 points in the contest.

French outfit Oyonnax Rugby lifted the Pro D2 championship title in 2022-23, earning themselves a place in the EPCR Challenge Cup for next season. Oyonnax have qualified for EPCR competition on three occasions previously, here is how they fared.
