A round-up of Saturday's action in the Amlin Challenge Cup

I Cavalieri Prato 13 Perpignan 30 (Pool 4)

Perpignan climbed to the top of Amlin Challenge Cup Pool Four with a comprehensive victory over I Cavalieri Prato at Stadio Lungobisenzio.

The hosts got off to an assured start with former Italy fly-half Rima Wakarua slotting two early penalties.

Perpignan fly-half Jerome Porical nullified Wakarua's efforts with two successful shots of his own before the French club's juggernaut pack were rewarded for their forward dominance with a penalty try. Porical added the extras to hand his side a 13-6 lead approaching the half-hour mark.

The Top14 outfit struggled for find momentum in the second-half but secured a second penalty try from Welsh official James Jones on 53 minutes with Porical again converted.

Replacement scrum-half Florian Cazenave sniped over for the Catalan's third touchdown on 67 minutes before Henry Tuilagi bulldozed over for the crucial bonus-point try.

Niccolo Tempestini raced clear to grab the Italian club's first try on 77 minutes but it was not enough as Perpignan left with a maximum points haul.

Petrarca Rugby 3 Lyon Rugby 43 (Pool 2)

Lyon kept their slim qualification hopes alive after cruising past Petrarca with a rampant first-half performance in Italy.
Waisele Sukanaveita got the scoreboard ticking over after just two minutes at Stadio Plebiscito with former England fullback Mark Van Gisbergen adding the extras.

Eoghan Hickey hit-back for the hosts before Alipate Fatafehi raced clear for the first of his two tries.

Van Gisbergen again slotted the conversion to hand the visitors a 14-3 lead after little more than ten-minutes.

The Top14 club continued their flying start to the clash when Sukanaveita burst through for his second touchdown of the clash before Fatafehi equalled the effort for the bonus-point.

Antonio Testa barged his way over Lyon's fifth on 34 minutes to bring the scores to 31-3 at the interval.

Lyon took their foot off the gas in the second half but Van Gisbergen crossed the whitewash on 50 minutes to take his personal tally to 13-points.

Thibaut Regard grabbed Lyon's sixth try on 73 minutes to cap off a comfortable win.

Worcester Warriors 57 Bucharest Wolves 13 (Pool 1)

Worcester Warriors ran in nine tries as discipline cost Bucharest Wolves dearly at Sixways.

The victory sees Worcester maintain the pressure on Stade Francais ahead of their crucial Round Six clash.

Florin Vlaicu booted the visitors into an unlikely lead in Worcester but the home side quickly turned the screw and earned a penalty try which Joe Carlisle duly converted.

Marcel Garvey and Nile Dacres touched down in quick succession for Worcester before Vlaicu landed his second penalty to bring the scores to 19-6.

Former England wing Garvey scorched away for his second try on 32 minutes as the Wolves had to deal with a second player in the sin-bin.

Aleki Luitui crashed over for another Warriors score shortly after the interval and Chris Pennell quickly got in on the action.

Valentin Popirlan grabbed a try for Bucharest as the Wolves continued fighting despite having two more players sent to the sin-bin in the second-half.

But Worcester finished with a bang with Josh Drauniniu, Miles Benjamin and Jake Abbott all crossing for scores.

Toulon 36 Newcastle Falcons 10 (Pool 2)

Jonny Wilkinson contributed 11 points as Toulon cruised passed his former club Newcastle Falcons to move a step closer to qualifying for the knockout stages.

The victory sees Toulon cement their place at the top of Pool Two with just two rounds of Amlin Challenge Cup rugby to come.

The former England fly-half, who this week penned a new deal with Toulon, got the scoreboard ticking for the hosts after just seven minutes.

Jeremy Manning hit back for the Falcons on 16 minutes before Geoffroy Messina grabbed the game’s first try.
Christian Loamanu then pounced with two quick-fire tries with Wilkinson converting both to bring the scores to 22-3 half-time lead.

Wales prop Eifion Lewis Roberts charged over for the French side’s fourth try to wrap up the bonus-point within five minutes of the restart of play.

Electric wing David Smith raced over the whitewash for Toulon’s fifth but it was Newcastle that had the last word Corne Uys grabbing a late consolation, which Manning converted.
