With England playing USA tomorrow in their second Rugby World Cup clash in Kobe, we take a look at a few of the American players to have featured in the European Cup in recent years. Chris Wyles (Saracens) Two-time Champions Cup winner Wyles is the most successful American to feature in European rugby, having made 67 appearances and scored 24 tries. The vast majority of those came for Saracens, where he won the Champions Cup in 2016 and 2017. The 36-year-old utility back has also spent time with Northampton Saints, scoring two tries in three European Cup games for the Midlands side. Wyles retired from international duty in 2015, having made 54 appearances for the Eagles, racking up 222 points. AJ MacGinty (Sale Sharks) The Sale Sharks No.10 joined the English club in 2016 and has since made nine appearances in European rugby, including a Challenge Cup semi-final defeat to La Rochelle last season. The 31-year-old, who has reached a half century of Tests for the Eagles since making his debut in 2011, has made 24 appearances in European rugby, scoring seven tries. Titi Lamositele (Saracens) Another two-time Champions Cup winner, Lamositele made replacement appearances in Saracens’ successful finals in 2017 and 2019, helping them see off ASM Clermont Auvergne and Leinster Rugby. In total, the 24-year-old prop, capped 28 times by the USA, made 13 Champions Cup appearances.
