Glasgow had never progressed beyond the quarter-finals of an EPCR competition prior to this season but have enjoyed an incredible campaign to navigate the likes of Dragons RFC, Emirates Lions and Scarlets in the knockout stage.

By contrast, Toulon have featured in seven EPCR finals, winning all three in the Heineken Champions Cup (2013, 2014 and 2015) and losing all four in the EPCR Challenge Cup (2010, 2012, 2020, 2022).

That being said, the TOP 14 heavyweights will have added motivation to secure what has proved an elusive trophy and come into the final having dispatched of Toyota Cheetahs, Lyon and Benetton Rugby in the knockout stage.

Friday’s clash will be a high-quality affair, with Glasgow’s squad laden with Scotland stars and Toulon brimming with France internationals.

Prop Dany Priso is a massive presence in the front row for Toulon, but Glasgow counterparts Zander Fagerson and Jamie Bhatti will certainly be no walkover.

Jack Dempsey was a standout performer for Glasgow in their semi-final success at Scarlets, and the back-row forward is set to be key again as he takes on the likes of Argentina’s Facundo Isa, France’s Charles Ollivon and Italy’s Sergio Parisse, who are all vastly experienced at international level.

Scrum-half George Horne has been among the points for Glasgow in the EPCR Challenge Cup and will need to be efficient from the tee if he is to keep pace with Toulon fly-half Dan Biggar, a three-time British & Irish Lion.

Toulon have further talent in centres Duncan Paia'aua and Waisea Nayacalevu, but Sione Tuipulotu and Huw Jones are an immense midfield pairing for Glasgow.

Wings Cheslin Kolbe and Gabin Villière are two more huge threats for Toulon, with Glasgow set to call on Ollie Smith, Sebastián Cancelliere and Kyle Steyn to be their try prospects.

Glasgow will have had a break of almost three weeks coming into the final after they were defeated by Munster Rugby in the BKT United Rugby Championship quarter-finals, while a heavily rotated Toulon team lost at Racing 92 in the penultimate round of TOP 14 games last Saturday.
