Toulon and Saracens, who are both three-time European champions, will face off in one mouth-watering contest, while two-time European champions – and 2003 Challenge Cup winners – Wasps will take on Lyon in another intriguing encounter.

Toulon, who are three-time Challenge Cup finalists, scraped past London Irish in the quarter-finals with a 19-18 victory at Stade Félix Mayol.

Charles Ollivon’s try and 14 points from Louis Carbonel were enough to secure the hosts’ progression after they had trailed for a large chunk of the game.

Albert Tuisue dotted down for Irish early on, but Toulon recovered in the second half and held on for their win after Henry Arundell scored a stunning individual try for the Gallagher Premiership side.

Elsewhere, Saracens showcased their title credentials with a commanding 44-15 success over Gloucester Rugby at Kingsholm - Aled Davies, Maro Itoje, Nick Tompkins, Jamie George and Duncan Taylor all crossed for the away side, with Owen Farrell kicking 19 points.

Gloucester proved stubborn opponents and got over through Jack Singleton and Louis Rees-Zammit, but Saracens were ultimately too strong.

Wasps came out on top of a fascinating duel with Edinburgh Rugby as tries from Jimmy Gopperth – who also kicked 14 points – Bi Alo, Tom West and Alfie Barbeary saw them triumph 34-30 at DAM Health Stadium.

Fifteen points from Emiliano Boffelli and scores from Adam McBurney and Magnus Bradbury saw Edinburgh lead on several occasions, but Barbeary’s late effort secured Wasps’ progression.

Meanwhile, Lyon’s teenage wing Davit Niniashvili was the hero as the TOP 14 side came back from 14 points down to win 35-27 against Glasgow Warriors at Matmut Stadium de Gerland.

Glasgow marched into the lead through scores from Josh McKay and Cole Forbes and then a penalty try, but Niniashvili’s double in addition to further efforts from Baptiste Couilloud and Romain Taofifenua contributed to a remarkable Lyon fightback.

The EPCR Challenge Cup semi-finals will feature some huge sides as Saracens, RC Toulon, Wasps and Lyon all reigned supreme in their quarter-final encounters.
