Dominguez kicking masterclass in 2001 final

Diego Dominguez of Stade Francais Paris kicks against Leicester Tigers in the 2001 Heineken Cup final

As part of the celebrations of a quarter of a century of rugby in what is now the Heineken Champions Cup, EPCR and Official Partner Tissot continue to give you the chance to vote on the best drop goal since the competition began in 1995.

Featuring some of the best moments of the last 25 years, you can choose from a range of world-class drop goals, with the second of those coming in the 2001 Heineken Cup final from Diego Dominguez of Stade Francais Paris, who put together a kicking masterclass – including his 77th minute drop goal – that wasn’t quite enough to secure a European crown.

It would be Leicester Tigers who edged them out in a European classic, with Leon Lloyd’s 79th minute try proving enough to give them a 34-30 win in Paris.

Once all of the shortlisted events have been revealed, fans will have the chance to vote for their favourite through HeinekenChampionsCup.com, with the winner of each section determined by a combination of the public vote and a panel of experts, whose debate of them will also be carried across EPCR’s digital platforms.

The activation will not only celebrate the relationship between EPCR and its high-quality timing partner but will also showcase some of the moments that have made the Heineken Champions Cup ‘The One to Win’ over the past quarter of a century, with a range of world-class tries, some stunning drop goals and place kicks converted in testing circumstances and with the eyes of the watching world on the kicker.
