Joël Jutge is to leave his position as European Professional Club Rugby’s Head of Match Officials. The vastly–experienced administrator and former international referee will rejoin World Rugby in January, however, he will continue to support EPCR in the areas of match official appointments and assessment during the 2020/21 pool stage of the Heineken Champions Cup and preliminary stage of the European Rugby Challenge Cup.
EPCR Director General, Vincent Gaillard, said: “Joël has brought passion and dedication to his role over the past four and a half years, delivering a high standard and improved consistency of match officials’ performance in European club tournaments. His collaboration with match officials and their managers across the three professional domestic leagues, as well as with the unions and World Rugby, has been greatly valued, and we wish Joël the very best of luck for his new professional challenges.”
Joël Jutge added: “I would like to thank EPCR for four and a half wonderful years, working with great people and talented match officials. In many ways, I will continue to work closely with my colleagues in Lausanne to ensure a unified and consistent approach to officiating between the international and club games.”
