Glasgow Warriors’ conquerors in Dublin stormed to victory again, by a 35-19 margin against Union Bordeaux-Bègles at Stade Mayol, but they finished outside the top six, two points behind UBB in seventh.

Toulon’s veteran Italian forward, Sergio Parisse, produced an outstanding performance in his final game for the club and received a standing ovation as he left the pitch.

Toulon ran in five tries from Beka Gigashvili, Duncan Paia'aua, Jiuta Wainiqolo, Mathieu Bastareaud and Cornell Du Preez, all of which were converted, four by Benoît Paillaugue and one by Ihaia West, but it wasn’t enough.

Instead, it was Lyon, beaten by Toulon in the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup, who joined UBB, Stade Français Paris and Racing 92 in the play-offs, after hammering Aviron Bayonnais 53-19 with a seven-try bonanza. They now welcome Bordeaux, while Stade Français will host Racing.

At the bottom of the table, Section Paloise ensured they stayed up with a 35-10 home drubbing of defending champions Montpellier Hérault Rugby, but USAP lost 26-16 at Castres Olympique and now face a relegation play-off against Grenoble.

RC Toulon failed to follow up their comprehensive EPCR Challenge Cup success last weekend by qualifying for the TOP 14 play-offs in the final round of the regular season on Sunday.
