2018-19 Pool 3: Saracens 29 Lyon 10

The pair first met in Round 2 of the 2018-19 pool stage as Saracens hosted Lyon at the then named Allianz Park.

The English outfit recorded a bonus point victory thanks to tries from Mario Itoje, Sean Maitland, Bradley Barritt and Alex Lewington. Owen Farrell was key from the tee, converting three of those tries and adding an early penalty.

Lyon got on the scoreboard thanks to a Lionel Beauxis penalty in the first period before Virgile Lacombe crossed the whitewash after the interval, however it was the hosts who took the victory.

2018-19 Pool 3: Lyon 10 Saracens 28

The reverse fixture took place in round five as Lyon welcomed Saracens to Stade de Gerland – with the hosts looking for their first win and the visitors seeking to maintain their 100% winning record.

Nick Tompkins was the star of the show as he dotted down a brace in the contest – once in each half. Jackson Wray and Ben Spencer also got in on the try scoring action, with Owen Farrell converting all four in the bonus point win

Alexis Palisson contributed seven points for the French outfit – a try and a conversion - with a Jonathan Wisniewski drop goal also added to the tally. Saracens would go on to lift their third Heineken Champions Cup crown at the end of the season.

2022-23 Pool A: Lyon 20 Saracens 28

Last season the pair were drawn against each other in Pool A and met in round two at the Stade de Gerland.

In a thrilling contest Saracens took the victory with tries from Jamie George, Ben Earl and Sean Maitland – Owen Farrell adding 10 points with the boot in addition to three from Elliot Daly.

The French side put up a considerable fight, Hamza Kaabeche notching a first half brace with Fletcher Smith also crossing the whitewash. Smith added five points in the kicking game, but it was not enough to secure victory.

2022-23: Pool A: Saracens 48 Lyon 28

Saracens earned the bonus point victory in the second meeting at the StoneX Stadium, notching seven tries in a 48-28 rout.

Elliot Daly was in fine form as he dotted down three times in the first half. Alex Lozowski, Marco Riccioni and Andy Christie also scored in the first half as the English side led 38-14 at the break. Ben Earl added a late seventh in added time at the end of the second half. Alex Goode added 13 points from the tee.

Ethan Dumortier scored a brace for Lyon in addition to tries from Josiah Maraku and Arno Botha made the scoreline respectable. Saracens advanced to the quarter-finals before exiting at the hands of eventual winners Stade Rochelais.
