The TOP 14 side head to the Aviva Stadium looking for their sixth European title after beating Ulster Rugby 50-49 on aggregate in the Round of 16 last month.

Munster, who saw off Exeter Chiefs to reach the quarter-final stage, now await Toulouse and with the Irish province able to name the likes of EPCR European Player of the Year nominee Jack O’Donoghue in their starting XV, Poitrenaud knows his side are in for a real test in Dublin.

He said: “It’s always a feat to beat Munster, whether at home or away.

“It’s a team with a great experience, they have played a lot of final stages in this competition.

“They have players of great talents in all lines, so obviously it will be a feat [to beat them].”

The two teams met during the Round of 16 last season, with Toulouse prevailing 40-33 winners at an empty Thomond Park before going on to become champions for the first time in eleven years.

Poitrenaud, who was part of Toulouse’s 2009/10 winning team, has now called on the French club to repeat their performance in Limerick as they look to secure back-to-back Heineken Champions Cup titles.

The 39-year-old said: “It is certain that we will go there to repeat this feat.

“The circumstances are a little different, this season is different.

“We are not going to play at Thomond Park, we are going to play at Aviva Stadium, which is important because they will not really be at home.”

He added: “Of course, we really want to win this match and continue our journey.

“It is a competition that started in a complicated way.

“We got out of the Ulster trap, which is not easy, so we really want to play a new semi-final.”

Stade Toulousain coach Clément Poitrenaud believes a win away to Munster Rugby in the Heineken Champions Cup quarter-finals would be a huge achievement for the current champions ahead of their meeting with Johann van Graan’s men on Saturday.
