Palu, whose solitary European try came in Racing’s 28-17 quarter-final win over ASM Clermont Auvergne back in 2018, dotted down in either half at Paris La Defense Arena.

Racing will take confidence from victory over the defending champions and record five-time winners ahead of their opening game of this Heineken Champions Cup campaign at Northampton Saints on December 10.

Arthur Bonneval touched down for Toulouse on eight minutes and Zack Holmes slotted two penalties to give the visitors an early advantage, but Antoine Gibert converted Palu’s first score before nudging a three-pointer on 27 minutes to leave Racing trailing only 10-13 at half-time.

Nolann Le Garrec levelled the scores with a penalty on 46 minutes, before he went over for Racing’s second try of the game two minutes later.

Gibert then added the extras to Palu’s second score on 55 minutes, with Toulouse unable to mount a recovery despite Selevasio Tolofua’s late try.

In Sunday’s Gallagher Premiership game, Harlequins grabbed first-half tries through Hugh Tizard, Cadan Murley and Tyrone Green but went down 29-22 at home to EPCR Challenge Cup side Saracens.

Lock Boris Palu crossed for two tries as Racing 92 beat last season’s Heineken Champions Cup winners, Stade Toulousain, 27-18 on Sunday to climb to third in the TOP 14, a place behind Toulouse.
