The TOP 14 heavyweights reached the final for a fifth time after defeating Benetton Rugby 23-0 on Sunday, despite seeing captain Charles Ollivon sent off early on.

On each of the previous four occasions Toulon have fallen short in the showpiece game, and Mignoni says his team are out to avenge those losses when they face Glasgow Warriors in Dublin on May 19.

“We are happy with the result [against Benetton],” he said. “Well done to the players. We spent the whole game at 14. It wasn't easy.

“We saw the players surpass themselves. It was important, we had to do it against this team.

"When you start this competition, those who have pretensions and ambitions announce that they want to win. Everyone can say it, we also said it to each other. There is only one who wins.

"We are not yet on the final, but the difference between winning and losing is just mental. You have to cultivate that.

“We are not there yet. We don't go there to play a final. Now we are going to Dublin to tear something away. It's not the same."

Benetton failed to capitalise on their extra man at the Stade Félix Mayol, but head coach Marco Bortolami says the team will take a lot from the game as they became the first Italian side to play an EPCR semi-final.

"There is great disappointment for the result and for not being able to execute what we had prepared,” he told Tribuna di Treviso. “The approach made the difference, it was a great lesson, from which we must learn.

Flanker Michele Lamaro added: "From matches like this there is only to learn. Needless to regret, nothing worked.

“At the end of the match, [Dewaldt] Duvenage and I thanked everyone for the work done, commitment and passion."

RC Toulon director of rugby Pierre Mignoni believes the EPCR Challenge Cup will be lifted by the team with the strongest mentality.
