With the European Rugby Champions Cup final between Leinster Rugby and Racing 92 in Bilbao just days away, take a look back at some of the most memorable European Cup finals.

1997 - Brive 28 Leicester Tigers 9
Brive became just the second European Cup winners after Toulouse when they put Leicester Tigers to the sword at Cardiff Arms Park.

In a side which featured current Racing 92 coach Laurent Travers, Brive played a breathtaking brand of attacking rugby that led to tries from Sebastien Viars, Gerald Fabre and Sebastien Carrat (2) as well as a late drop-goal from utility back Christophe Lamaison.

They would go on to reach the 1998 final as well, but fell to a 19-18 defeat to Bath Rugby in Bordeaux.

2001 - Leicester Tigers 34 Stade Français Paris 30
Diego Dominguez kicked all 30 of Stade Français Paris’ points as they fell to a 34-30 defeat against Leicester Tigers in a thrilling European Cup final in Paris.

The fly-half's impressive tally of points still represents the most scored by an individual in a European Cup final.

A pair of second-half tries from Leon Lloyd as well as 17 points from the boot of full-back Tim Stimpson helped the Midlands outfit clinch the first of two successive European Cup crowns, as they beat Munster Rugby 15-9 in the 2002 final in Cardiff.

2004 - Wasps 27 Toulouse 20
Rob Howley was the Wasps hero at Twickenham as he beat Toulouse full-back Clément Poitrenaud to the ball to secure the title-winning try with seconds left on the clock.

Toulouse led throughout the first half but were unable to see off Wasps who roared back into the contest with tries from Stuart Abbott and Mark van Gisbergen before Howley added the crucial final score.

2006 - Munster Rugby 23 Biarritz Olympique 19
Munster Rugby made it third time lucky in the 2006 European Cup final against Biarritz Olympique after two defeats at the final hurdle in 2000 and 2002.

In a match that swung back and forth, it was the endeavour of scrum-half Peter Stringer that allowed him to dart past the Biarritz scrum on the blind side for what proved to be the crucial try.

Scrum-half Dimitri Yachvili kept the French side in touch with four penalties but it was fly-half Ronan O’Gara who had the final say with a 73rd minute penalty to secure a first European crown for the Irish province.

2011 - Leinster Rugby 33 Northampton Saints 22
Leinster Rugby pulled off arguably the greatest European Cup final comeback of all-time when hauling themselves back from 22-6 down at half-time to defeat Northampton Saints 33-22 in Cardiff.

Two second-half tries from Man of the Match Johnny Sexton helped the Irish province bridge the gap before Scottish lock Nathan Hines dotted down to secure what turned out to be an unassailable lead.

2012 - Leinster Rugby 42 Ulster Rugby 14
Leinster Rugby secured a third European Cup title in four years with a dominant display over fellow Irish province Ulster Rugby at Twickenham.

Ulster were unable to stop a rampant Leinster side, who still hold the record for the largest winning margin in a European Cup final thanks to tries from Sean O’Brien, Heinke van der Merwe, Sean Cronin and Cian Healy.

Four players that featured in that final – Healy, Isa Nacewa, Johnny Sexton and Devin Toner – have the chance to clinch a fourth medal in Bilbao on Saturday.

2015 - RC Toulon 24 ASM Clermont Auvergne 18
RC Toulon defeated ASM Clermont Auvergne in a thrilling final at Twickenham after a stroke of individual genius by Drew Mitchell clinched victory with a 69th minute try.

Clermont’s Nick Abendanon – who was awarded 2015 EPCR European Player of the Year – scored a second half try to bring his side within a point of Toulon before Australian wing Mitchell weaved his way past five Clermont defenders to dive over for what ended up being a pivotal try with just over 10 minutes left to play.

Abendanon remains the only player to have scored tries in two European Cup finals having touched down against Saracens last season too.
