The former Toulon back-row forward won three Champions Cup winners’ medals for the French side and was named EPCR European Player of the Year after a stunning season that saw the Englishman claim three Heineken Man of the Match awards, including one in the 2014 final against Saracens.

Speaking on today’s show, he highlighted how proud he was to win the prestigious award, saying: “It was a massive honour and it’s something that I will treasure for the rest of my life, to be honest.

“I’ve always said before that the only reason I got it is because of guys like Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe, Juan Smith, Chris Masoe, Joe van Niekerk - the list goes on.

“I had all those guys to push me and help me to become that. It was the whole team that year, to be honest, because we all pulled together and made history for the club. I was just lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.”
