The 2008 Challenge Cup winner has made 78 appearances in European Rugby, scoring 24 tries during his spells at Bath Rugby and ASM Clermont Auvergne, with whom he reached the 2015 and 2017 Champions Cup finals and scored tries in both matches despite coming out on the losing side.

The full-back spoke about the mixed emotions of winning European Player of the Year whilst coming out on the losing side of the Champions Cup final in 2015 as Toulon secured a narrow 24-18 win at Twickenham.

“It was a funny one because I’m one of the only ones to be on the list but to have lost the Champions Cup final,” he told the Champions Rugby Show.

“I feel like I shouldn’t be on that list with those legends because I’ve not had a massive international career and I’m not even close to the likes of Ronan O’Gara, Jonny Wilkinson, Rob Kearney and the rest.

“In terms of achievements in my career though, it’s definitely my proudest moment.”
