Bristol Bears head coach Pat Lam has admitted that his squad are “excited” at the prospect of returning to La Rochelle for their European Rugby Challenge Cup quarter-final in March. The English club reached the last eight for the first time since 2006-07 by finishing second in Pool 4 with 21 points, three behind La Rochelle, who they will now take on for a third time this season. Having already beaten the 2018 Champions Cup quarter-finalists 13-3 on the road in Round 4, Bristol will be aiming to clinch a double success in France, something Lam is thrilled about. "I’m excited for Bristol Bears rugby," said Lam, speaking at his press conference on Monday. "As you grow as a team, there’s nothing as exciting or challenging as knockout rugby, where your preparation has to be right on the money.” The quarter-finals will be played between March 29 and 31.
