The Scotland international, who lifted the Heineken Champions Cup with Exeter in 2020, spent time out with an ankle injury but is fit again, coming off the bench in last Saturday’s quarter-final victory over DHL Stormers as he bids for further honours in what he recently confirmed will be his swansong season.

Four try-scorers from that 42-17 thrashing of DHL Stormers at Sandy Park continue in the Chiefs XV as they travel to Mattioli Woods Welford Road – hooker Jack Yeandle, No.8 Sam Simmonds and wing Olly Woodburn all start, while Tom Wyatt shifts to the wing to accommodate Hogg.

Nika Abuladze and Josh Iosefa-Scott line up either side of Yeandle in a refreshed front row, while lock Jack Dunne, flanker Aidon Davis and centre Solomone Kata are also brought in.

Meanwhile, fellow Heineken Champions Cup semi-finalists Leinster Rugby, who beat Leicester 55-24 last Friday, have rotated for their BKT United Rugby Championship game against Emirates Lions in Johannesburg on Saturday.

La Rochelle, who overcame Saracens 24-10 in the Heineken Champions Cup quarter-finals last weekend, welcome Aviron Bayonnais on Saturday while Toulouse, who demolished Cell C Sharks 54-20, welcome Lyon on Sunday.
