Most points: Leinster Rugby (42)

Leinster Rugby’s 42-point haul against Ulster Rugby in the 2012 showpiece game eclipsed Leicester Tigers’ record, set over a decade prior.

Leinster thrashed their domestic rivals 42-14 at Twickenham Stadium, bettering Leicester’s tally of 34, which was achieved in a thrilling 34-30 win against Stade Français Paris in 2001.

Most tries: Leinster Rugby (5)

Leinster ran in five tries on that day to set another record – Sean O’Brien, Cian Healy, Heinke van der Merwe and Sean Cronin dotted down in addition to a penalty try as the Irish province went one better than CA Brive did in a 28-9 win over Leicester in 1997.

Racing have since gone close to matching Leinster’s five tries, crossing four times in their 31-27 defeat to Exeter Chiefs in 2020.

Most conversions: Leinster Rugby (4)

Another record set by Leinster in the 2012 final was for most conversions, with the extras added to four of their scores thanks to efforts from Johnny Sexton (3) and Fergus McFadden.

Exeter would also notch four successful conversions in 2020 as Joe Simmonds dissected the posts after each of his side’s tries.

Most penalties: Stade Français Paris (9)

Stade Français may have been edged out by Leicester in the 2001 final, but they put themselves in contention with an incredible total of nine penalties, all coming from the boot of Diego Dominguez.

Biggest winning margin: Leinster Rugby (28)

Leinster’s dominant display against Ulster in 2012 remains the biggest margin of victory in a European Cup final.

Most titles: Stade Toulousain (5)

Stade Toulousain’s triumph over Stade Rochelais in the 2021 final took them to a record fifth European crown as they added to their previous successes in 1996, 2003, 2005 and 2010.

Most appearances: Stade Toulousain (7)

Toulouse’s five titles have come from seven appearances in European Cup finals, with defeats to Wasps and Munster Rugby in 2004 and 2008 respectively their only failures in the showpiece game.

Leinster’s loss to La Rochelle in last season’s final denied them a fifth European star and was the second time they have been defeated in the competition’s decider in six attempts.
