The Welsh international is currently the scrum and assistant forwards coach at Worcester Warriors, but will link up with Dragons head coach Dean Ryan for the second time to coach the forwards at Rodney Parade.

Davies made a total of 66 European appearances as a player, with 34 of them coming in the Challenge Cup, including nine during Gloucester Rugby’s successful 2005/06 campaign.

The Cherry and Whites topped Pool 3 with six victories before defeating Brive 46-13 and Worcester Warriors 31-23 in the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively.

That set up a mouth-watering all-English final against London Irish and it delivered, with Gloucester emerging 36-34 winners after extra time in a dramatic finish at Twickenham Stoop.

During his playing career, the prop won a Six Nations Championship Grand Slam with Wales in 2005 and made a total of 39 appearances for his country, scoring two tries.

At club level, he also spent time at Celtic Warriors, Leicester Tigers and Ospreys before hanging up his boots in 2012.

Since retirement, Davies has worked as development coach at Ospreys and head coach at Swansea, before joining Worcester during Ryan’s tenure there in 2014.
