At Mattioli Woods Welford Road, Leicester survived a late fightback to beat play-off contenders Harlequins 35-29.

The Tigers raced into an early lead, with Matt Scott and Ellis Genge both crossing inside ten minutes for tries converted by George Ford.

Nathan Earle went over for Harlequins on 14 minutes before Tom Youngs scored for Leicester moments later in a hectic beginning to the game.

A penalty try kept Harlequins in the game, but Leicester extended their lead before the break as Ford nudged a penalty before Genge picked up his second try of the day.

Ford kicked another penalty shortly after the break, but the visitors battled back through a Joe Marchant score and Earle’s second try on 71 minutes.

Zack Henry’s penalty kept Harlequins at bay, with Luke Northmore’s late breakaway try for the visitors eventually proving insignificant.

In the TOP 14, Montpellier fell to a disappointing 32-10 defeat to Stade Francais Paris at the Stade Jean Bouin.

Joris Segonds and Louis Foursans-Bourdette exchanged early penalties, but the hosts went into half-time in control as Sefa Naivalu and James Hall both went over.

Michel Macurdy scored for Montpellier after the break in what would be their only try of the game, as Telusa Veainu, Alex Arrate and Talalelei Gray all crossed in the final 20 minutes as Stade eased to victory.
