Edinburgh Rugby head coach Richard Cockerill reckons the Scottish side can challenge for Heineken Champions Cup honours after their 40-14 victory over RC Toulon in Round 2 last weekend. The capital team are now second in Pool 5, two points behind Newcastle Falcons, who they meet in the December double-headers in Round 3 at BT Murrayfield Stadium and Round 4 at Kingston Park. “The Toulon result proves that when we get our physicality right, as well as our mentality right, we’re a good side and we’re as good as anybody,” Cockerill told the official Edinburgh website. https://twitter.com/EdinburghRugby/status/1054399844775792645 “We did it in Montpellier and we did it at the weekend against Toulon. Hopefully for Edinburgh and for the national team, it’s a step forward. “I think [against RC Toulon] it was probably the best we’ve played. The way we attacked with the ball in hand was obviously great and our mindset too – not feeling inferior against household names. “We showed that if we just concentrate on our own jobs and have a collective belief in the unity of the team, then we know that we can beat sides like Toulon.”
