Our next new boss in the European Rugby Challenge Cup is Agen director of rugby Christophe Laussucq. Where is he from? The 46-year-old former France scrum-half – who made 47 European appearances for Stade Français Paris, Bordeaux-Bègles, Bourgoin, Pau, Castres Olympique and Leicester Tigers before retiring in 2008 – joined Agen from Pro D2 side Stade Montois, where he was director of rugby for six seasons. What is his previous coaching experience? Laussucq’s coaching career began at Brive, where he was their forwards coach from 2008 to 2011. Then he returned to Stade Français Paris, where he started his playing career, and coached their backs from 2011 to 2013. Who will be in his coaching team? Under Laussucq will be Rémi Vaquin and Benoit Lecouls, who will respectively be forwards coach and scrum coach. What does he think of his appointment? “It’s a change and continues my coaching career, after my assistant roles at Brive and Stade Français. In essence, Agen is a club with a player’s culture. But it’s about more than me. I have never been a coach who keeps things tight. But those are just words. Everyone wants to play attacking rugby, but you have to win matches as well.”
