Tom O’Flaherty, Sam Hidalgo-Clyne and Ian Whitten also touched down in the comprehensive bonus point victory – Chiefs the only side so far to achieve back-to-back BP triumphs in the Gallagher Premiership.

Challenge Cup holders Bristol Bears recovered from an opening weekend defeat at the hands of Wasps to beat Worcester Warriors 30-13.

The Bears, who have been drawn alongside Exeter in Tier 1 of Pool B of the Champions Cup, led 11-8 at the interval of their clash with Worcester before Brian Byrne, Siale Piutau and a late penalty try put the game beyond doubt.

Wasps suffered a 40-24 defeat at the hands of fellow Champions Cup qualifiers Gloucester Rugby. Billy Twelvetrees kicked 15 points and added a try to lead Gloucester to victory at Kingsholm.

Elsewhere, in another battle of Champions Cup sides, Harlequins overcame Northampton Saints 49-29 in a try-fest at Franklin’s Gardens.

Fly-Half Marcus Smith was the orchestrator of the victory – scoring 24 points through three penalties, five conversions and a late try.

Heineken Champions Cup winners Exeter Chiefs put Bath Rugby to the sword in a 40-3 mauling at Sandy Park on Saturday.
