The 2018/19 Heineken Champions Cup season got under way last weekend in fabulous fashion, with a number of individuals starring for their clubs in Round 1. We have selected five players who could be crucial to your Champions Fantasy League XV and add some key points for your team this weekend. There is still plenty of time and there are still plenty of reasons to sign up for this season’s Champions Fantasy League and play the Classic game:

Only just started: With five rounds of Pool stage action and seven knockout matches to come, missing one week’s points is not the end of the world. How great a story would it be that the winner started a week later than everybody else?
Flash prizes: At certain points during the competition there will be flash prizes on offer - e.g. most points in a day or most points for a weekend – so there are plenty of chances to be a winner!
Bragging rights: Who doesn’t enjoy getting one up on their friends? Why not put your and your mates’ rugby knowledge to the test in a league and compete against each other for a weekend?
In the know: We may be one week into the competition, but you have the opportunity to select your XV knowing the players who are in form and likely to bag plenty of points at the weekend.

Gareth Anscombe (Cardiff Blues) - €8.0m The Welsh international picked up from where he left off in European rugby last season by being the highest Champions Fantasy Rugby scorer in Round 1 with 25 points. A terrific solo try, three penalties and three conversions helped Cardiff Blues return from Lyon triumphant and he will want to continue his prolific form this weekend. Cardiff welcome fellow Guinness PRO14 outfit Glasgow Warriors to Cardiff Arms Park this Sunday and you wouldn’t bet against the utility back putting in another outstanding performance. https://twitter.com/ChampionsCup/status/1051793558934441985 Cheslin Kolbe (Toulouse) - €7.5m Kolbe may have been suffering from jet lag with all the rugby the South African has been playing across the Southern Hemisphere in recent weeks, but nobody would have noticed with the way his feet were moving in Toulouse's win at Bath Rugby in Round 1. He startled the opposition on numerous occasions on the wing at The Recreation Ground last Saturday and set up full-back Sofiane Guitoune through his terrific step to score a vital try for Toulouse. The dazzling 24-year-old will likely go up against Leinster Rugby’s James Lowe in a mouthwatering clash on Sunday at the Stade Ernest Wallon. Ben Morgan (Gloucester Rugby) - €6.5m The English international No.8 has had a tough time of it in recent years, dealing with injuries, but he has been like his old self this season. Morgan – who captained Gloucester for the first time on Sunday - earned the last of his 31 caps for England three years ago and carried more than any other player on the Kingsholm pitch last weekend against French champions Castres Olympique. The 29-year-old back-row forward fully deserved to be named Heineken Man of the Match and he will now seek to back up his performance away to Munster Rugby at Thomond Park on Saturday. https://twitter.com/ChampionsCup/status/1052186600120246272 John Cooney (Ulster Rugby) - €7.5m Cooney is another player who transferred his domestic form onto the European stage in Round 1 of the Heineken Champions Cup. The scrum-half made his presence felt all over the pitch in Ulster's 24-10 home win over Leicester Tigers last Saturday and even slotted into the fly-half position later on in the match, demonstrating his versatility. The 28-year-old converted all three of Ulster’s tries and will need to be at his influential best this Saturday, when the Irish province face last season’s finalists, Racing 92, in Paris. Manu Tuilagi (Leicester Tigers) - €8.5m Leicester were outmuscled in their Round 1 encounter in Belfast, but a silver lining in the Tigers’ cloud was the carrying of Tuilagi. No Leicester player made more carries than the England centre (12), while he also ran 64 metres and pulled off 10 tackles. The Tigers welcome Scarlets to Welford Road on Friday night and the bulldozing 27-year-old will be vital as his side chase their first points in this season’s competition.
